The Wedding

The Venue

The wedding and reception will be held at the Borden Building in Fred Fletcher Park in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The Events

The wedding will include a ceremony and reception to follow. It’ll probably start around 5-ish and end around 9-ish. It’ll be pretty casual, but we will feed you food and give you alcohol.

What to Wear

Dress how you like! Keep in mind that Raleigh in August is hot and humid. The Borden Building is air conditioned, but the ceremony itself will be outside.

Where to Stay and Transportation

The Borden Building is centrally located near downtown Raleigh. Aloft Raleigh is the closest, but Sheraton Raleigh Hotel and Holiday Inn: Raleigh Downtown both look like swell options. The Longleaf Hotel is good, too. Depending on where you stay, you could walk, drive, or take a rideshare to the venue. Raleigh is pretty easy.

Things to do
  • North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences: Educational, fun, good for families. See the sloth!
  • North Carolina Museum of Art: Slightly further from downtown, the NCMA has a beautiful new building and an expansive sculpture garden.
  • Raulston Arboretum: North Carolina State University’s arboretum. August will be a great time to visit.
  • Lucettegrace: Patisserie located downtown. Incredible!
  • Boulted Bread: Bakery just outside downtown with delicious pastries and bread. Try an everything bagel croissant!
  • Sitti: Very tasty Lebanese restaurant downtown.
  • Videri Chocolate Factory and Black & White Coffee: Great chocolate and coffee.
  • Andia's: The best ice cream. Ask Max to tell you his Andia's story.
  • Ajja: The best fancy food.
  • Gringo A-Go-Go: Mexican restaurant with good vegetarian and vegan options. Try the sikil!
  • Morning Times: Casual downtown spot for breakfast and coffee. Try and order the Vegan power bowl, see what happens.
  • Costco: Bet they don’t sell pickled okra at the one near you.
FAQs
  • Q: Can children attend?
A: Yes, children are welcome! Please indicate if your child will attend when you RSVP.
  • Q: Do I need a car?
A: A car may be helpful but is by no means necessary. Downtown Raleigh and the area near the venue are both walkable. Raleigh has a public bus system, but buses do not arrive frequently outside of weekday rush hours. Taxis/Uber/Lyft are all available.
  • Q: How do I get ahold of you?
    A: Max's cell is a good option: 480-240-8414

Our Story

Max and Asher met in summer 2017 due to a fortuitous Tinder opening while Asher was visiting Berkeley. Max took a chance and drove from the Bay Area to California’s Central Valley for their first date at the Davis Farmers’ Market, where he immediately got to work sensually eating a vegetarian corn dog. Asher was immediately sold on Max, but Max had to test Asher with next dates at a work party (ah!) and an improv class (yikes!). Soon they were alternating weekends at each other’s homes. They decided to make things easier and moved in together. They also began co-parenting the Handsomest Cat in America (Lionelle).

In spring 2023, Max and Asher took a vacation to the Grand Canyon. At sunset on the rim, Asher got on one knee and presented Max with, you guessed it, a pie (the circle shape is what matters). Max said yes, more crying happened than typical when eating pie, and assembled sightseers were confused and concerned.
